Taking a break for now
I've decided to hold back from hosting the Give Me Five Monday meme here at BeccA's Buzz. I'm sorry to disappoint those who regularly played along. To you, I owe this explanation. Honestly, part of the motivation behind this comes from the fact that the participation level dropped way down, probably due to the inconsistency of the original posts. My fault.
But with everything else going on right now, I just feel like maybe it would be a good idea to take a break and perhaps rethink the current Give Me Five format. I'm open for ideas, if anyone has them.
So for now, it's the end of an era. Sorry folks!

I crack me up!
Ever since I got my hair cut back in December, I've been trying different ways of styling it to see what works best. Today I had to blow dry my hair mostly straight so I wouldn't have to leave the house with wet hair when it's only 9 degrees outside.
Later in the day, I decided it was bugging me just flopping around like that so I pulled the sides up and back, which made a poof in the middle...the front section still sweeping off to the side a bit....
Oh my! Looks like I found a Sarah Palin do! Of course, I'm going around the rest of the day spouting off things like:
(in a slightly Canadian accent here)
"Hey, Joe six pack, I'm a maverick."
"You betcha!"
>>WINK<<
Ahahahahahahahehehehehehahahahahe, I crack me up!
Don't get me wrong, I like Sarah Palin just fine, bless her heart, but I can't help but to be amused by it.

Big weekend coming up
This is going to be another big weekend for me. No, not like 'I need some diet pills' big, more like it's going to be chock full of activities.
Friday night, I'm going to visit my friends and have dinner. Then it's home and into bed for me!
Saturday day, I am going to a seminar called Journey to Financial Freedom. I can't wait, Crown Financial Ministries is a wonderful and rich source of articles and planning tools and downloadable resources to help you get a grip on your finances and take the driver's seat for a change. If you're anything like me, way too much debt controls my life and I am seeking to make some serious changes to gain control back. Check out the website and see what you can start doing today to honor God by being a good steward of the resources He has provided you. Life doesn't have to be so burdened by money woes!
Saturday evening, I'm going to a fund raiser for the Friends of Missouri Midwives. Funds are needed for legal expenses to forward the legalization of Midwifery in Missouri. The fund raiser is a screening of the movie Orgasmic Birth. This powerful documentary has been featured as 'Birth's best kept secret' on 20/20. Birth has been portrayed as something you dread and not something that certainly can be a beautiful and even an enjoyable experience. I think it's wonderful to show women that they can give birth in other ways and give them options that are less commonly practiced. If you would like to come along to the screening, you may purchase a discounted ticket in advance from the Free the Midwives website.
Saturday overnight, I *may* work, believe it or not, at my second job. One of the other ladies called me a few minutes ago to ask if I could work both Friday and Saturday overnights for her. As much as I need to work both nights, I know there is no way for me to fully benefit from the financial seminar if I am 1/2 asleep from working the night before. Since my education on financial freedom is of utmost importance right now, I feel as though I really need to pass on the Friday night shift in order to be fully aware and on point for taking advantage of every moment of the seminar. Oh yeah and I paid $25 to register for the seminar already, that would be wasteful to sleep through!
Sunday is of course, church day. We also have a Valley Girl Women's Ministry meeting afterwards. I need to make a desert tonight for that....mental note: need to go to store on my way home from friends' house. So, what are your weekend plans?

I'm just glad I'm not in jail, again.
You've got to hear what happened today...
Picture this, I'm sitting in my office at work. It's around noon, I was looking at some papers on my desk and out falls my speeding ticket that I got back in November. Remember?
Here it comes..............are you ready, are you sitting down?.................I was supposed to be in court this morning at 8 am for the ticket!!! I forgot all about it.
Do you know what happens when you don't show up for court??? A warrant is issued for your arrest! OMG! I called the court phone number provided on the ticket. The lady told me
I would have to come down before the close of today's business and pay everything plus an extra $35 to cancel the warrant! If not, everything from today would be keyed in and the warrant would be issued! So I went to the ATM of MOM and got $160 and went straight there.
Once I was there, I found out that they would take $10 as cancellation fee for the warrant and hold $150 as bond that I would appear on a new court date. Wheewwww! So the court date she gave me? April 15th. I'm not kidding!!!! I was like, NOOOOO!!! After I explained that was the ONLY day I couldn't be in court on, she said, Well, when? I said any day before or any day
after, just not that 1 day. So she gave me May 5th.
*I MUST MAKE THIS APPEARANCE.*
I don't want to go back to jail, besides, this would actually be on my record! How do I get
myself into these pickles? I am a mess, truly a mess. I guess you never grow out of the need to have your parents bail ya out from time to time, literally! I was told to keep my receipt with me for atleast the first 24 hours, just in case.

Surprise of a bad kind
True story: When I was about 19 years old, I was working part time with odd hours. I came home one day during the middle of the day, while everyone else in the family was at work. When I put my key into the lock of the front door, the door pushed in a bit and I knew instantly that something was wrong. I stepped back and noticed dark foot prints on the door that hadn't been there before. I was afraid.
I knew my neighbor, Don, was a retired police officer and so I ran next door to his house. We called 911, then he grabbed his revolver and we went back to my house. I did have to unlock the front door but as soon as it was open, you knew there was trouble. Everything was ransacked or gone from it's place, I was crying and shaking. My 2 cats were inside but unharmed, to my relief. Don went from room to room making sure no one was still in the house.
When he came to the basement, the door had been broken into and was standing open. Apparently, whoever it was had tried kicking in the front door and was unable to get in that way, also making alot of noise trying. So they proceeded around to the back of the house and found an easier way in. My neighbor Don was convinced that they were most likely *still* in the house when I first arrived home and probably ran out when they heard me at the door! Perhaps if I would have gone ahead and turned that key, things could have turned out so much different.
This was the last straw. This was not the first time our home had been broken into, so my mother decided to get some home security from ADT. We have since had an active account with them and their services have come in handy many times. I firmly believe that if we would have had ADT at the time this event occurred, the alarm would have sounded when they kicked the front door almost completely open and the crime would have ended there.
If you haven't already considered ADT, take a moment to investigate the many security options and services they offer for the safety of your home and family. From your teenage daughter to your senior parents, they provide not only home protection but peace of mind, too. Can you really put a price on crime determent?

Tonight, fajitas!!!
I am sooo loving having a kitchen I can cook in again! I've come to realize that I have never made a great number of dishes and considering I have always been in love with cooking, it's high time I got started! So tonight, I'm making fajitas complete with green peppers and onions, sour cream and flour tortillas. Yay me!
