"On the Lot" rocks!

FINALLY!!! The website for 'On the Lot' is up and running at full capacity...offering us a chance to review the comedy shorts from this week's episode.

If you don't watch this show, I would consider giving it a chance. I love the creative aspects of these types of shows.

My favorite for this week's challenge of making a 1 minute comedy short is:

"Replication Theory" by Sam Friedlander. I think we've all encountered this situation at some point, and his twist ending is just great!

My second favorite is called "Getta Rhoom" by Jason Epperson.

I didn't think for one minute that the actor in this film had special needs other than a fashion consultant or something. You could hear the audience reacting just like we were at home, with buckets of laughter. I was very surprised to hear Carrie Fisher say she was actually 'Offended...'. Relax a little, have some popcorn or something!
Check out all the films for yourself, and catch the show on Monday nights!

Robin Thicke can even make cocaine sound sexy!?

My newest CD is "The Evolution of Robin Thicke" and it's riddled with sexy rhythms and beats coupled with smooth almost swooning voices.

Track #7 'Everything I can't have' has a Latin sound and it's HOT! I think my favorite track is #14 'Take me to the sky" which I'm almost certain was featured in one or more episodes of 'Six Feet Under'. The track that's out now is #4 'Lost without you' which is the first one I heard when he performed on the Oprah Winfrey show. He also performed that song on American Idol.

Oddly enough, it also includes Track #13, a song called 'Cocaine.' Yep, you heard me right. It's actually a song about cocaine, and the man makes it sound sexy!!! It is interestingly positioned in an unlucky spot on the track list, wonder if that was purposeful?

I've never considered cocaine sexy or hot, but then again, I've never considered cocaine at all. Who am I to judge? Maybe he knows better than I do. I'll take his song/word for it.

Despite this, I do like the CD. It can put ya in 'the mood.' It's great relaxed listening, even if it has hard lyrics.

PS. I've never been one for a moustache, but he's kinda handsome too!

Christmas in May!

Have you ever heard a song and remembered a moment or feeling?

I'm listening to Third Day's 'Christmas Offerings' CD at work, and I'm reminded of that old feeling of how special Christmas used to be when I was a kid. The smells, the sounds, the lights. There used to be a strange feeling like there was something almost magical going on all around me.

People used to be so different about the holidays. Now everyone is worried about offending people and getting sued for expressing their freedoms. The new message of Christmas seems to be "Watch out! Someone might not agree with your beliefs!" You simply try to squeeze through with as much enjoyment as you can before the humbug of the season creeps in, and it almost always does these past few years.

Of course nothing can be as it was when we were kids. The magic of the season is lost in the bustle of buying gifts. Sometimes I wish we could all forget about buying presents and just be happy visiting and getting together. What better gift can you give, than yourself?

Perhaps, it would be nice to simply take in the greatest gift of all that we've already been given so many years ago....

You should try listening to some of your favorite Christmas music or carols. See what nostalgic feelings you can muster up! I know it's May but it's never too early to remember the good times!

Horticulture at Work 3

An update:

I've noticed that the radishes I'd planted by seed into tiny clay pots last week had sprouted and taken over the tiny pots. So I transplanted them into one long planter over the holiday weekend.

They are so cute!!! I can't believe it has only been 1 week! I really don't know if what I'm doing is the right way to do it or not, but it seems to be working so far. We'll see if I get any radishes worthy of eating in a couple of months, I guess.

Also, I transplanted my basil before as well, and here's how big the leaves are now!

The smell is just great!! This is fun! Sometimes I wish I had a real garden of my own!

You noticed!

Ok, so recently I changed the title of this blog from "BeccA's Blog" to "BeccA's Buzz."
There's no big reason, I just thought to myself, "Self, of course it's a blog. I should think of something more catchy." So I adopted 'Buzz.' It's growing on me :)
Sometimes, you just need to freshen things up, for fun!

My friend over at Patrick Says v2.0 noticed that I'd made the change and hadn't yet taken the opportunity to mention it here. I just wanted to say, thanks for noticing the change and thanks for the suggestion. Not sure why that thought hadn't occurred to me as of yet.

Feed the Head

Sometimes I like to StumbleUpon fun and new things...it's a great service to use, free, and totally gives surfing the net more focus and fun because you can select topics you like and it surfs for you and brings back things you might like! Spectacular!
Thanks so much to my friend over at PatrickSays for turning me on to it.

Today I StumbledUpon Feed the Head

Hands down the wackiest, oddest, most interesting site I've seen in a while. The only thing you can do is keep discovering more and more oddities! I'm hooked!

Green Tea for me 2

I've been trying some different brands and flavors of Green Teas lately. I've discovered that I don't really care at all for any of the fruit or citrus flavored varieties.

Today I tried Vitamin Water's "Rescue" which is Green Tea (c+egcg). It's pretty good!

In comparison to the Snapple All Natural Green Tea Original, it pails with regard to mgs of actual egcg. The Snapple brand boasts 55 mg of egcg per 17.5 oz bottle where the Vitamin Water brand only provides 25 mgs per 20 oz bottle.

As stated on the side of the Snapple label "Studies of green tea consumption recommend 300 mg of egcg per day to effectively boost metabolism."

One would have to drink (12) 20 oz bottles of Vitamin Water a day to achieve this goal as opposed to only (5 1/2) of the 17.5 oz bottles of Snapple. Both seem a bit out of my reach, but that would be a whopping 1,500 calories from the Vitamin Water compared to only 330 calories from Snapple brand in an attempt to obtain the 300 mgs of egcg required to effectively boost your metabolism, "according to some studies."

I don't know about you, but I figure some egcg is better than the none I was getting before I started enjoying green tea.

I also made another observation whilst reading the Vitamin Water Rescue Green Tea (c+egcg) label. Apparently there is meaning behind the "C +". It stands for Vitamin C, and according to the nutritional facts, drinking an entire bottle of it will provide you with 150% Vitamin C based on a 2,000 calorie diet. WOW!!! That's great for us ladies in our "20's."

Anyway, I think I'll stick to Snapple All Natural Green Tea Original for now.

Horticulture at Work 2

I couldn't help myself...I got 2 "Natural Garden - Radish Grow Kits"
Here they are just after I've followed the directions (sort of) to get them started.

You may be saying to yourself, "This girl can't count, and she's an accountant!?! I thought she said '2', I count '3' tiny pots!"

I used the empty left over tiny pot from starting the basil and some potting soil to start some of the seeds from both packets. The directions say to only plant about 10 of the seeds in the packet into the tiny 2" pot it comes with and to plant the remaining seeds somewhere else. So I did.

Which is also an experiment: to see if they grow the same or better or slower using potting soil vs. the disc of sod it comes with. This one is the #3 above in the photo.
I've lined them all up in the front window of my office to bask in the sunlight. I'll keep you updated!

So, school me...

OK, I've heard before, that you can get in pretty deep trouble for 'stealing' music from the internet. I've used LimeWire for a long time. I understand it to be a free file sharing service. I don't use it alot, but from time to time, I will go on there to see if I can find an old song or to listen to different performances of songs I like to see which CD I'd like to go out and buy. So am I stealing? I'm not reselling anything I get....
Can anyone shed some light, please?

The Killer Tortoise

Hands down, the funniest and most interesting video I've seen all day!!!

And I'm a cat lover, too!
I've never seen a turtle lay tracks like that! It's obviously very motivated.

Horticulture at Work

So, I bought a "Natural Garden - Basil Grow Kit." It was only a dollar and came with seeds, a sod disc and a tiny clay pot. I put it together a couple of weeks ago and stuck it in the window sill in my office. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw tiny green stems coming out of the mud. More surprisingly was the sweet strong aroma these tiny budding leaves had at such an early stage!

Today I transplanted them over into a larger pot and spread them out so they will have plenty of room to grow out.

I'll keep you updated on it's progress. I'll also share with you, one of my favorite treats for summer when they have grown out into leaves large and ripe enough to cut off and enjoy!

Obsess Much?

OK, I have to admit. When I like something, I REALLY like something. I have a couple of obsessive behavioral traits, for those of you who are new.
ANYWAY
I play games over at GoldToken.com and have discovered a new game called Dice Pipe. It's FUN FUN FUN!!!
I find myself checking to see if I have any new turns to take around 50 times a day, no kidding. I even think about it when my computer is off. I enjoy my paid membership, but the level I am on only gives me up to 30 games at a time. So as soon as one is finished, I start a new one for someone to join!

I love this game because it involves mild skills and some chance. It can be a fast paced game with some games lasting only 4 or 5 turns.

Come on over and try it out, I can be found as 'Beccagirl' (big surprise huh) and I always have open invitations for this game. The site does have a limited Free membership as well, if you'd like to just try it out. I believe you can have up to 15 basic games with a privileged allowance to enjoy playing 1 premium game at a time of those 15 spots.

Oh, and if we do play a game, don't expect me to say "Good luck" as I don't believe in luck.

Friday's Feast #143

Appetizer:
Tell about a time when you had to be brave.
When I was a kid, we had to be brave when my dad would be in one of his drunken rages. Sometimes we got out of our beds and went in to hide under mom and dads much bigger bed. Later, after he had passed out, my mom would find us asleep under there.

Soup:
Which upcoming movie are you excited about seeing?
Shrek the Third!!! May 18th, 2007

Salad:
Name an item you try to always have on hand.
Cell phone.

Main Course:
Imagine the most relaxing room you can think of. Now describe it!
Lots of windows letting in the bright sunlight & beautiful views, screens to let in the breeze and keep out the bugs, soft comfy furniture, lots of pillows, a table to enjoy a good meal of some kind of grilled or bbq'ed meats and traditional sides, good friends and family, games, music, lots of laughter, cool iced tea, fishing rods and keys to the boat in the corner by the open door, and everyone excited about going out later for a swim!

Dessert:
On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being highest), how spiritual or religious are you?
I would probably say 1 to religion. I don't put my faith in religion, I put it in God the Father of all creation. So, I guess you could say 10 for spiritual. They really are 2 different topics.

The Fax from H-E-Double Hockey Sticks!!!

So, we have a fax machine in our office that is relatively new. Unfortunately, it is cheap. Or rather, poorly made. It's so finicky that you actually have to feed multiple sheets through by hand, one at a time!! And don't even get me started with receiving faxes!!!!
Yesterday, I actually had to smite it with rolled up paper like a bad dog, because that was better than finding that hammer we have in the store room!
After watching the boss stand over it and complain about feeding through each sheet, I was reminded of that scene from the movie 'Office Space' where they took the annoying printer out in a field and rocked it. Remember?

Hopefully, we will be replacing it soon and I won't have to go to the trouble of grass stains on my pants!

BTW: This post is not intended to condone stealing.

Ba-ningles!

A truly original snack!
Take a ripe banana and some whole Pringles in the original flavor.
Slice 2 pieces of banana about 1/4" thick and lay them next to each other on top of one Pringle-gently.
Stack a second Pringle on top to form a sort of 'sandwich'......and voi la, a Ba-ningle!!
It's salty, it's sweet, it's soft and it's crunchy!
It's awesome!!!!

Snail eMail

So I use Charter Communications for my home high speed internet service, in turn, I also use them for my email. When I am at work, I use the browser to check my mail directly from their website. For the past 2 days, they have been running SUPER SLOOOOOOOOOW. I mean, when you click on an email, it seems to take atleast 2 minutes to open, if you want to reply, it takes another 2 minutes just to open the window to type in, and then of course, sending is another 2 minutes, if not more for a couple of lines of simple text! It's maddening!
Every other website I go to seems to work normally.
Does anyone else use Charter and maybe having similar problems?
Anybody?

Green Tea for me

So, I've been hearing and reading alot about the benefits of drinking green tea. I've even discovered a nice blog filled with information, opinions and benefits. Just one of many, actually.

So I decided to try some different ones and see what all the hype is about.

So far, I tried one with green apple flavoring. It was good, but a little on the sweet side and seemed to leave a horrible aftertaste. I only drank about 1/3 of it. Blah, not impressed so far.

The newest in my experiment, is made by Snapple. It says it's all natural. It's actually quite good! It's refreshing and lightly sweet. Normally I enjoy *VERY* sweet teas...but this is nice!

So, are there any green tea lovers out there? What benefits can you claim from drinking it?

May 4, Post 4

I decided to try and post atleast once per day if I have computer access.
I will be visiting my dad over this weekend doing some much overdue *FISHING*!
So I may not be able to post again until Monday...hey, maybe I'll have a new pic to share!

Have a great weekend all!

Friday's Feast #141

Yes, I know it's Wednesday... :)

Appetizer:
How fast can you type?
I dunno...all I do know is, I make way too many mistakes! I can hit that backspace so fast!!! I've even noticed, I backspace so much, sometimes I backspace and retype words that aren't even mispelled, out of habbit!!!

Soup:
What is your favorite online game?
Right now, it's 'Shake it Fast' on GoldToken.com
Come join me in a game!! My username is Beccagirl

Salad:
On a scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 as highest), how intelligent do you think you are?
Well, if I could count that high, I'd be able to tell you!!!
J/K...I'm more street smart than book smart. But I have some of that too. So I'd say about 6.5.

Main Course:
Name three of your best teachers from your school years.
In no particular order (I wouldn't want to hurt their feelers!):
Mr. Covington - Grant Middle School - 6th & 7th grades - Language/English & Young Readers and Writers Club
Mrs. Merleen - Berea Temple Christian School - 2nd>5th grades - Everything!
I really can't think of any other teachers having such a strong impact on me....or else I can't remember their names anymore.

Dessert:
What are your plans for this upcoming weekend?
Stoping by to see my friend Jen home from the hospital on my way down to my dad's house about an hour and a half from here. Fishing. Eating. Visiting. Drive back on Sunday to my friend Shell's house to go see a movie (maybe 'Vacancy'). Then home again!
Thanks mom for watching my babies!!!
